Lear Jet Check Ride

On Sunday April 18 I took my Check Ride to become a First officer on the Lear Jet. My company flies the 25/35/36 model of Lear Jets.
My weekend started on that Friday afternoon when I took a Delta flight from DTW - MSP - ICT (Wichita, KS,) with Eric, my sim partner who was taking his yearly caption recurrent ride,. After getting to ICT we meet up with Brad, our company director of operations (D.O.) and went out to dinner. Then we went to the sim housed at flight safety where we spend the next 6 hours, just letting me fly the aircraft and get used to it and practice the steep turns, stalls, vor holding and IFR approaches. At the end of the day I was tired but it was an ok day. Saturday started at 10 AM at the sim again I got to practice all of the above and did more approaches. then we had a lunch break and then back to the sim, where we spend the rest of the day dealing with engine and system failures until about 6PM, when we stopped for dinner and the night. Sunday started at 10 AM again the first flight of the morning started with Eric taking his checkride, he passed, then I had one more practice sim where I went over every thing that I could see on my check ride, at this point I did not do very well I was thinking that if I did not pick up my game I would not pass my check ride after lunch, to say the least, lunch was a hour of nerves, I was almost to the point of saying that I did not want to take my checkride because I was thinking that I was going to FAIL! But when I got to the sim I took a deap breath said a prayer and went for it. The checkride started out with a normal takeoff with an engine failure after V1. I was able to restart then normal climb, steep turns, stalls, direct to the VOR for the vor approach with a circle to a different runway upon going missed (not being able to land) I had another engine failure then to the VOR and hold. after that I was vectored for the ILS, for a full stop, my landing was too long down the runway so I had to fly the ILS again and land the aircraft again. With a sigh of relief I am done and I pass! While my brain is fried I just want to never study again, but that is not to be the case..ATP at the end of MAY and my Falcon 20 checkride in the summer... more to come as I continue my quest .. Never Stop Learning, Keep Moving Forward!

A baby is born with a need to be loved - and never outgrows it.

I have a confession...

I can get pretty baby hungry sometimes.  Last week was one of those weeks.  Now, there's always a sense of hunger for a little bundle of joy, that's just the way it is when you're hoping to adopt.  But every once in a while it gets kinda painful.  It's no bueno!  (that's Spanish for "no good")  So what do I do to kick the cravings?  What any good girlie girl does!

She Shops!!! lol

Now, I am not a shopaholic by any stretch of the imagination. But when it comes to waiting for a special little one, it calms me.  Not just any kind of shopping...baby shopping!  Bedding, toys, bottles, little do-dads...But mostly clothing.(It's my version of "nesting")  So when I saw this cute little onesie, I could not help myself!!!  I even paid full price for it!(which I typically refuse to do!)

I think it's just perfect!  We both love sci-fi!  And this is great for either a boy or a girl!!!  Imagine a handsome little guy sporting this around town!!!  And a sweet little darling girl parading around town with a cute jean skirt and a huge yellow bow in her hair!!!  Either way, it'll be bliss!!! i hope...

What does Yeaster mean to you?

"Behold, I am Jesus Christ, whom the prophets testified shall come into the world. And behold, I am the light and the life of the world; and I have drunk out of that bitter cup which the Father hath given me, and have glorified the Father in taking upon me the sins of the world, in which I have suffered the will of the Father in all things from the beginning. Arise and come forth unto me, that ye may thrust your hands into my side, and also that ye may feel the prints of the nails in my hands and in my feet, that ye may know that I am the God of Israel, and the God of the whole earth, and have been slain for the sins of the world." 3 Nephi 10:10-14

We really enjoy celebrating the resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We're so grateful for the sacrifice that He made for us. And this Easter Sunday was wonderful. This year Easter fell on the same Sunday as General Conference(a world wide mormon conference that happens 2 times a year). So instead of heading to church at 9 we headed over to a friends house for an Easter brunch! Everyone brought something- fruit salad, spinach salad, juice, eggs, a honey baked ham! We made strawberry pancakes(from scratch). It was a great meal! Then we watched conference on their big screen!

60 glorious inches!!!

It was awesome!

When we got home it was time for our Easter Baskets!!! Except this year the Easter Bunny got a little lazy and just put the all candy in one candy dish.

*we've given the Easter Bunny a stern talkin' to...She knows that this will not be acceptable when children are in our home and has agreed to separate baskets*

We're still enjoying the sugary goodness! I love Easter candy, it's the best! While devouring a few Starburst Jelly Beans I pondered the age old question...

If I were a candy bar, what would I be?

I came up with a Snickers Bar. Firstly it has chocolate, and there's that saying "you are what you eat" so I'd have to be chocolate! But it's also creamy, sweet, salty, and nutty!

So then I asked Matt. He said that he'd be a Baby Ruth. Because it has a little bit of everything!

What Kind of Candy Bar Would You Be?

One other thing that we like doing around Easter is listening to an awesome comedian, Terry Foy. He does think really funny skit about Pastor Fuzzy, Scout Masters, and Easter! Check it out! I know it's not the best quality but it's the only copy I could find online! I hope you enjoy! We sure get a kick out of it!!!
